MY EXPERIENCE IN CHRISTIAN HERITAGE MINISTRY  TEENS CAMP 2022

On the 29th of August 2022, was when the Teens Camp tagged ‘RELEVANCE’ started. It lasted for four (4)days and those days were one of the most memorable days of my life.

On the first day, Monday, there was a proper introduction and we all moved to our different classes. I was in ‘Love class’ which was headed by Mrs Rhoda and we were taught about using our Unique Selling Point (USP) to spread Christ and I learnt a lot. Thereafter we went for a tea break, cleaned up and had our first talk by Daddy Akin Ibitokun titled ‘Relevance in your generation’ and it was a great teaching.

After the talk, we had lunch, watched a movie and learnt some handiwork and that was the end of the first day.

On the second day, Tuesday, I moved to the Virtue class headed by Mr Olabisi and Mummy Ibitokun for summit II, and it was more interesting and educative but still under USP.

We went for tea break again, cleaned up and did the second talk by Mummy Debola Ibitokun titled ‘Getting things done’ and it was full of life. We had lunch, played games and had a wonderful impartation by Mr Oluwafemi. We were taught our camp theme song titled ‘Relevant’, composed by one of the commandants, Mr Muyiwa. We sang melodiously and it was posted on social media.

The third day was more interesting. After corporate prayer, there was a group discussion where the females were separated from the males and I learnt a lot about Virginity and Purity, but the statement that sank into my heart and I wish that everybody should know is Purity is all round. You can be a virgin but not pure. I asked questions and they were answered to my understanding. Then as usual we had our tea break and continued with the summit topic, ‘USP’.

The amazing aspect of the third day was the Esther Pageant show. We were told to study the book of Esther and show up for the competition. I was reluctant and unwilling to participate because I had never done such a thing in that type of situation and I was scared to lose. Fortunately for me, I won, and that was how I emerged as the Queen of the CHM teens camp for the year 2022 and I have a king. I went home with the crown and I was so happy.

Thursday, 1st September 2022 was the last day of the campout, and I had mixed feelings. I was happy because we were going on an excursion and sad because we were parting ways.

After the last summit and workshop, we finally went to the excursion venue, A MOUNTAIN. I was so anxious because I had never climbed a mountain before. As we started climbing, it was fun and exciting but after some minutes, I became exhausted and many others too were. It was as if I was running out of breath, my legs were shaking and weak. I felt like giving up but I got heads up from the people around me. We all got to the top of the mountain tired and exhausted. There was a short teaching on the mountain and I learnt ‘To get to the top is difficult but to get to the bottom is easy’. I enjoyed the scenery, the fresh breeze and the feeling of being on top. Getting down the mountain was way easier. When we got down, we were all given our gifts and bid farewell to everybody. I made sure I got the contact of some of the friends I made.

I am so happy right now because I was able to make it to the campout and I wish I will be there next year and other years. I got a lot of advice, teachings and lessons which will benefit my life.

My advice to other teenagers out there, both the privileged and unprivileged is ‘You must know that you are wonderfully and fearfully made. You are made for a purpose, You are made to be relevant in your generation. YOU ARE RELEVANT!!!

In conclusion, I am truly blessed by CHM and I pray that God will also bless CHM and the administrators. Keep up the good work. Thank you.
